Ironworks and Family Dollar Implement New Point of Sale Solution

RICHMOND, Va. and CHARLOTTE, N.C. (September 25, 2007) - Family Dollar and Ironworks are implementing a new point of sale management solution which earned "PMI – Project of the Year" and "Best Information Technology Business Value" at the Blue Diamond Awards, presented by Information Technology Charlotte (ITC) and the Charlotte Chamber of Commerce.

The “PMI – Project of the Year” award recognized Family Dollar for following project management principles, with support from Ironworks, to deliver an initiative that represented quality; met financial budget goals as well as functional and business objectives; satisfied customers, stakeholders and sponsors; and was delivered within the committed, approved and planned timeframe. The “Best Information Technology Business Value” award focuses on the business value of information technology and how Family Dollar improved its processes or services through the use and deployment of information technology. 

Focused on increasing revenue and bottom line performance, Family Dollar and Ironworks worked together to revolutionize the retailer’s store system technologies by introducing a mix of centralized and decentralized systems, leveraging package and customized applications, resting on a foundation of standard infrastructure components and connecting to the Enterprise back office systems via a new wide area network.
